The British Council is the UK’s principal cultural relations organisation. It is headquartered in the UK with offices in over 110 countries and territories, several of which are in Africa. It has developed a short video to mark their annual, global celebration of International Women’s Day.
The video showcases the voices of African women, powerfully and skilfully articulating messages we need to listen to if the theme of International Women’s Day this year – Making it Happen – is to be supported. Click here to view
Making the goal of gender equality a reality is a marathon, not a sprint; a process, not an event; a journey of discovery and hope. Women4Africa and the British Council believe this goal benefits men and women, children and adults, communities, societies, nations and all the elements that make up the world we populate. The women the British Council work with in Africa, through the video, endorse this vision.
Happy International Women’s Day 2015 to all supporters of Women4Africa’s important work. Celebrate, and consistent with the theme for 2015, ‘Make it Happen’ by what you do today and each day during all of 2015 and beyond, wherever you can.
