Top lawyer and diversity leader, Funke Abimbola, has been selected to be honoured in the 2017 Powerlist.
The Powerlist features 100 of the UK’s most influential men and women of African and African Caribbean heritage. Funke is included in the law section of the 2017 publication.
Published by Powerful Media, the Powerlist is an annual publication that was first published in 2007 in a bid to provide professional role models for young people of African and African Caribbean heritage. Since then it has brought a number of people to prominence, created a network of influencers and rebranded black Britain.
The publication is sent out primarily to schools and universities, but is heavily requested by executive search firms as well, as it is recognized as a valuable source of talent.
Securing a place on the list demonstrates both how influential honourees are in their immediate sphere of expertise and how far that influence reaches beyond that. This year, the focus was on scale and giving back.
Commenting on her inclusion in the 2017 Powerlist, Funke said:
“I am truly humbled by this recognition of my legal work but, importantly, my voluntary work in championing workplace diversity in the UK. Much of that work focuses on empowering our youngsters, the next generation of leaders. I look forward to sharing copies of this year’s publications during my future talks to school children”.
