From selling vegetables in the street at age 10 to help facilitate her education Buumba Malambo worked hard at school and was the only girl among 3 guys picked in 2010 in Mufulira town to do a degree of Social work at the University of Zambia where she graduated with a a Distinction this year. During her studies she was sent in her second year for field work in Chanyanya village and when she saw how children where suffering just to have an education she decide to form Buumbalambo foundation at age 18 most of all at age 15 she was part of the team in Mufulira town that was distributing maize to the typhoid victims and at age 16 she was selected by the town clerk to head the Mufulira town youth movement where she worked with all competence. Buumbalambo Foundation is one of Zambia local fastest growing NGOs in Zambia www.buumbalambofoundation.org which envisions a Zambia free of illiteracy in relation to education as a human right. I nominate Buumba Malambo age 22 to win the Women4Africa award which will not only be a great boost and encouragement for her hard work to uplift the face of Africa in adverse condition such as lack of funds but she kept moving. The prestigious award will be a bigger lesson and inspiration to the other young African women and youths that volunterism, hard work and determination can also be found in an African young women. Now she has been working of the BULAMBO farm projects to curb hunger under CARE2FEED project that her foundation undertakes to support children to eat before they can go to school i believe this is so exceptional and a gift to Africa.Over the years she has worked locally and internationally in programmes that promote youth, children and women education, volunteerism and entrepreneurship hence the winning two prestigious awards that include the Voice of Youth Africa Award www.voiceofyouthafrica.org and the African Young Achieverswww.afiaawards.org/2013-ayanet-winners as a recognition for leadership and skills in relation to promoting youth and women development in Zambia. More she has been appointed to many youth positions like the Queens young leaders panel www.queensyoungleaders.com a panel of 10 young people who are responsible for the selection process of young entrepreneurs around the commonwealth ,Zambia country co-coordinator for World leader’s forum Dubai www.worldleadersdubai.com country co-coordinator for A World at School international organization www.aworldatschool.org and Zambia think tank www.zambianvoice.org. More so she was selected to participate in the 6 weeks SUSI young women leadership programme 2014 which was held in America at the University of Kansas.I belive this young women belief in Africa is agreat indication that the Award will boost her Humanitain work to expand to other parts of Africa not only Zambia.
